Ronnie Greer's All Star Blues Band
What an amazing afternoon gig last Sunday at the beautiful Walled Garden in Bangor!
Ronnie hosts this event annually and has all his favourite musicians on hand for an absolute jamboree of blues.
Nick Scott - bass, John McCullough - keyboards and Richie Buckley - tenor saxophone, have all played in Van Morrison's various bands. Wonderful musicianship as you can imagine.
Peter McKinney on drums is a time keeping legend, Gerry Truesdale McWhinney has been playing bass with Ronnie since Methuselah's early days and Anthony Toner's guitar work and vocals are as beautiful as they are heartfelt. Ken Haddock, pictured, has an incredible voice and really knows how to deliver a lyric you've heard many times before, with an added original twist.
Billy Boy Miskimmon visits from England, bringing his mean harmonica, which leaves Ronnie, the finest Blues guitarist in Ireland, to weave his way through all of these talents with his usual soaring style.
Bring all this talent together and you have one of the performance highlights of the year, just exceptional!
I only mention this as Ronnie and Anthony are playing as a duo at one of our upcoming Blues by the River gigs at Belfast Boat Club.
Both this and Kyron Bourke are selling really well, so book your tickets now!
