New Rega Products Planar 6RS and the AOS
Announced at the recent Bristol show were two great additions to the Rega range. Following the rampant success of the Planar 3 RS Special Edition no-one should be surprised that the Planar 6 has received the same treatment. Take the best turntable under £ 2000 and add special bits. Most obviously the beautiful metallised top plate, unseen upgrades to the motor with a double belt and then a factory fit of the amazing new Nd9 boron cantilever cartridge that is £ 695 by itself! Do all this and then supply P6RS as a £1999 package!
And while Rega are on a roll they have announced a new moving coil phono stage based on the £ 4600 Rega Aura. The Aura is one of the quietest phono stages ever made by anyone. This results in great accuracy of both tone and dynamics, but at a price. The new Aos is based on the same circuit design as the Aura so I am greatly looking forward to what this will sound like. Many people with moving coils from any manufacturer will find this an important upgrade for £ 1500.
