Spendor's New A Line Loudspeakers
We have been talking about Spendor's updated A line range for some months now. Manufacturing delays have meant that's all we've been able to do, talk!
The good news is that these have now arrived so we can see/hear what's been improved.
Spendor have been around along time now, coming out of a BBC background like engineers from Kef, Harbeth, and Rogers. Early on the BBC was also one of their largest customers. Their reputation for a BBC sound came from their exceptional midrange performance making vocals and string tones both smooth and accurate.
In recent years they have had great magazine acclaim, especially for the A7, now A7.2. Cynics always say 'I'm sure there's not much difference' but I can report that there is!
Spendor have a new manufacturing facility where they make all their own cabinets. This has been part of the delay and also a lot of the improvement. Although the new A Line looks almost identical stiffer cabinets with extra damping and a new port design have extended the lower bass while a brand new tweeter design also gives a sweeter smoother treble end.
All in all these are a step forward, they make the A Line closer to the D Line, and that's a good thing! Prices have increased a little but no surprise there, so many products have gone up and most of them without a matching improvement.
It you're looking at a bookshelf speaker around £ 1500 or floor standers from £ 1999 to £ 3999 then call in and check the Spendors out. Really happy to let you hear them, because that's what it's all about!
New prices on our catalogue list now.
