It has been no secret that Rega have been planning an updated Brio amplifier for a long time now. There was even a run out scheme; unfortunately we ran out last October so a big 5 month gap, but I think worth waiting for.

The Brio mk7 keeps the class leading sonic performance of it's predecessor with an improved version of the same amp layout. The phono stage also has lower noise, meaning more dynamics, and the big news is the addition of 2 digital inputs. Rega's own design of onboard DAC allows you to bring the best from external digital sources such as a streamer or tv. 

The new case work isn't a shock as it follows the design cues from the Aria3 phono stage, a beautiful piece of engineering. 

With all the new work a price point increase is to be expected, every manufacturer has had rises in the past year, however £ 699 to £ 799 with these additions and improvements is modest and less than expected.
