How do they do it? How do Rega always gain such glowing reviews?

A cynic would say it's due to their advertising however uniquely among all HiFi manufacturers Rega don't advertise.

Typically up to 10% of every product you purchase, not just in hifi, is what the manufacturer spends on selling it to you!

This means that Rega are immediately more efficient and competitive than any rivals, and that shows in the engineering of all their products.

This blog was initiated when two amazing reviews arrived here simultaneously.

First the Planar 6RS :

The Planar 6 RS is that rarest of products (in any category, not just hi-fi) where there is literally nothing to be said against it. Thanks to borrowing components from the Planar 8 it’s brilliant value for money and it delivers sensational performance without needing a moving coil phonostage to do it. Finally, it’s proportionally perfect; one of the prettiest turntables available at any price. This is the best turntable anywhere near this price point and a very worthy award winner.

Could a review ever be more glowing than that?

Well actually yes it could be, this about the Rega Mercury and Solis combination:

Rega’s flagship amplifier is not simply the culmination of everything that they know about the business of making amplifiers (although it’s that too) and neither is it ‘only’ a beautifully built and comprehensively specified pair of devices. What they are is a physical manifestation of musical joy that will handle anything you throw at them without fear or favour and deliver it at any level you fancy and very little gets near them.
