Who?

So last Sunday morning settling down with my coffee and the papers I can't decide what to play. From deep in my brain came a thought, I haven't played Ben Sidran in ages. We used to play this album for demonstrations a million years ago in the 80s and 90s, and I love it!

More than 20 years ago while walking through Paris of an evening I saw a poster for a Ben Sidran concert on that night, in fact at that very moment! The club wasn't too far away so we ran through the streets arriving while the band was still playing, yes result!

Unfortunately they were playing their last encore and it was over, missed it. Went in for a drink anyway and 10 minutes later I was standing at the bar beside Mr Sidran, and offered him a drink, although asked him was there any chance he would go back onto the stage to play 'Old Folks' for me as we had come from Ireland etc etc.

Anyway he rightly said no.

While listening to Old Songs for the New Depression another thought struck, I wonder if Ben Sidran will play in Europe again? 

Then it gets spooky, he is playing Paris in June.

The upshot is that it's all booked and I'm off to see Ben Sidran actually playing live for the first time this June.

That's fate, and Ben Sidran!
